I just finished reading the first part of the book by Nina
Garcia, ‘The Style Strategy’. Frankly, this book was meant to be given to my
friend (not to mention she needs some inspiration to look more stylish :D).
The first day the book stayed in my room, I purposely went
through it and found it quite interesting. Sooo.. I decided to own the book hehe.. *am so sorry, girl.. next time ill buy you another one..*
Basically, the principal of style strategy is ‘to buy less,
choose well, and mix it all’.
All we need to do is to list down :
What do we haveWhat do we needWhat do we want
In order to know what do we have, we have to take two steps:
Taking Inventory
This is the hard part. We need to really see what do we have
in our wardrobe and decide what to do with each item. As you look at each garment,
you should decide whether you want to keep it, get rid of it, alter it, or mend
it. Please pay attention if you find your garments are made with great fabrics,
good tailoring, and surely expensive, they are worth to be kept.
Saving the Basics and Saying Goodbye
Now you must figure out what is missing from your
wardrobe. What you need is to have the
basics. For women, the example item that must have is classic white shirt,
little black dress, denim, cardigan, a great bag, flat shoes, and classic high
heels.
Don’t bother saving anything that just doesn’t fit you anymore.
You won’t get thinner unless you wear clothes that truly fit to you.
After learning about what do we have, the next stage is to
define what do we need and want. Hope you can find this useful J
Cheers,
